Cabal Online

Cabal Online (Korean: 카발 온라인) is a free-to-play, 3D massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), developed by South Korean company ESTSoft. Different versions of the game are available for specific countries or regions. Although Cabal Online is free-to-play, the game has a "Cash Shop" which allows players to purchase game enhancements and useful ingame items using real currency.

The game takes place in a mythical world known as Nevareth, which was destroyed by an evil entity known as the CABAL. Out of the survivors, seven "Masters" rose up, each wielding the abilities of the "Force Power". These masters taught the people, and Nevareth was rebuilt. Years later, the CABAL is plotting a return to power, and the characters of the game take up the role of heroes who battle the CABAL uprising and conspiracy.

Overview

Cabal Online is stylish action MMORPG game, set in a 3rd Person View perspective, which emulates console action gaming.The game's name (Cabal) derives from Kabbalah (a word that has numerous spelling variations), the mystical interpretation of the Hebrew scripture, and originally meant either an occult doctrine or a secret. It was introduced into English in the publication of Cabala, a curious medley of letters and papers of the reigns of James and Charles I.

The rate at which I person can level is varied, depending on the player and amount of time invested in it, but considering that the average person needs one year to level their Character on most given free MMORPGs, Cabal requires about half of the time. This was achieved by making higher levels available (bypassing the standard 100).

ESTsoft has tried addressing three of the major issues found in the MMORPG games nowadays, these include PKing (Player Killing), Tedious Killing (Repetitive Grinding) and Red-Eye (Overplaying a game).

For PKer's, the penalties surpass by far the benefits of a player killing another player. These include not being able to interact with NPC's (shopping, questing, etc) and dropping items if killed as well losing honor points and being confined to a Labyrinth.

The second, they implemented a system known as the "Combo System" which emulates the button timing hit found on some consoles game such as Shadow Hearts, this gives the player an advantage both game play wise as well breaks from the repetitiveness of 'click-slash-wait' elements.

ESTsoft has implemented a game feature in which the more 'break-time' a person takes away from the game (being logged out), the more EXP (Experience) they will gain when killing a monster/completing a quest, sometimes up to two times the default value. This system is said to have been implemented so people will look after their health more and actually give some free space on the servers.
